Booking Through Thursday

  1. Love stories? Yes or No? Sometimes

  2. If yes, "romances" as a genre? Or just, well, stories that have love stories? (Nobody's going to call "Pride & Prejudice" a "romance," right?) Pride and Prejudice is too a romance. It is just a great romance. I also loved Jane Eyre as a kid. In terms of trashy romances, well, I have to be in a certain mood. And I don't confess that I read them to anyone I know. The wife of someone I used to work with writes romances. I was very admiring of someone who can get a novel published so I read one of hers. I didn't think it was all that good and I found the sex scenes very embarrassing because I know her husband. I kept wondering if she was writing from imagination or experience. Shame on me.

My cousin has had two romance novels published. Its hard to look at her middle aged, balding husband and not think "hot loins- really?"

Hi Sarala, thanks for dropping by my blog. :) I think we are getting to know each other, hehe.

I haven't read Pride and Prejudice yet..*blushing*..given that most of you have read and think it's a classic. I love books in general, so as long as the stories are good, I'll go for it!

LOL I admit I would probably be wondering the same thing about the couple if I knew one or both of the partners. :-)

I agree with you--Pride and Prejudice is definitely a romance as is Jane Eyre. And wonderful romances they are!

Most romance authors are asked if they write from experience -- how come people never ask things like that to Stephen King? LOL...

As a romance author, I will simply say that some of what we write is real life, and some is wishful thinking :-)

Thanks for stopping by.

When I was younger I used to dream of writing a Nobel Prize-worthy novel. A REAL novel in other words.

Now my mission in life is to write Mills & Boon (Harlequin) romances, and even though heaving bosoms clearly do not feature in my blog entries I do see blogging as a way of getting back into writing, and hopefully eventually my dream will come true...

You've made me LOL. You stopped by my blog a few weeks ago and commented on my review of Silas Marner. I wanted to return the favor. I am enjoying looking through your blog. You have a real eye for beauty. I love the photos and the comments about Mrs. Dallaway. It makes me want to reread even though I disliked it the first time. Thanks.

Romance? *wrinkling up my nose*

My friend's niece (who happened to have our apartment prior to our moving in) was writing Harlequins for years. I think she still does, but also has her own novel published now.

My stepmom's sister also writes romance novels.
