My house is. . .

My backyard

a wreck. My office only has part of a roof.

Taking a bite

I guess it could be worse!

Since I had to cancel my work day due to construction (roofers are not conducive to quiet reflection) I'm going to a bookstore to write.

oh no! I might consider living in that bookstore! What a mess they made. Post an after-photo, ok? It looks like it must be a lovely house under there.

Yeah. In my first apartment in Chicago, a six unit (three front, three back, stairway in the middle), I came home from work to discover the entire facade of the building removed and all my belongings covered in fine dust.

They then left it open for eight days, allowing wanderers to come in the front and squat, terrifying the one other tenant, a girl from Lawrence, Kansas.

Nothing like coming home and clearing your building with a Maglite and a baseball bat!

Best wishes.
