I was inspired to take this picture by a poem, "Advice to Writers" by Billy Collins.
"From a small vase, sparkling blue, lift
a yellow pencil, the sharpest of the bouquet,
and cover pages with tiny sentences
like long rows of devoted ants
that followed you in from the woods."
From Sailing Alone Around the Room. I find Collins poetry very accessible but not the least bit shallow.

Thanks Jud. I could just get you a print. I'm not famous enough to be selling them. LOL. I have another print I need to order--I'll try to remember to get to it. What size?

Lovely post -- picture and poem. I totally agree with you about Billy Collins' work. I'm fairly addicted, too, to reading articles by MDs in the Science section of the NYTimes; your posts about working while sick fit right in. I'm going to bookmark your blog.
