I am ignorant about that so if you care to enlighten me go for it.phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10669096127325145722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29541387.post-81150957238475712552006-11-28T07:54:00.000-06:002006-11-28T07:54:00.000-06:00ren.kat--I'm not sure where in my piece I said pea...ren.kat--I'm not sure where in my piece I said peace at any cost. I have my opinions about the war in Iraq, like everyone else on the planet, but my point was more along the lines of "war is hell" trite though it is. In order to end war we need to prevent the reasons for going to war not just become pacifists.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13054205963916941320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29541387.post-72289162556382066052006-11-28T01:39:00.000-06:002006-11-28T01:39:00.000-06:00Cool- Sunday scribbling, book review in one!
Not...Cool- Sunday scribbling, book review in one!

Not sure I agree with all your conclusions. I don't believe in peace at any cost. For example if the International forces pull out of Iraq right now there is a good chance that the Taliban will move into the South. Sure people will say it doesn't affect them- not their fight- and "we shouldn't have even gone in to Iraq in the first place", but that doesn't bring peace to anyone but those who stirred the wasps nest in the first place. We all know the cost of war, but there is a cost of peace, too. We can find a cure for AIDS someday, but somewhere else in our bodies another virus will find a way in.
Self taught artist says that power and violence is "old"- well, so is sex and you don't see the majority of people complaining that it's "so yesterday". (not that some people haven't given it a try!). .ren powell https://www.blogger.com/profile/15593358547415514500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29541387.post-35405579747422151792006-11-27T20:40:00.000-06:002006-11-27T20:40:00.000-06:00Its uncanny that I have been thinking about my own...Its uncanny that I have been thinking about my own nemesis the last few days and was going to post something about that. I'll wait awhile so you dont think I'm copying the idea :)

Nemesis=war. My puny dictionary says: a means of deserved and unavoidable punishment or downfall. retribution.
I've never even considered the word to be used in a political way.
I agree with you, I hope war is not the nature of things. What is natural about violence? There is something so backwards, so 'old' about power and fighting. I can't wait for the day people learn to live together without trying to control everyone and everything.phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10669096127325145722noreply@blogger.com
